Rogers Cup Women’s Singles SF

Caroline Wozniacki vs Sloane Stephens

There’s a delay in Rogers Cup play due to rain, but the first semifinal matchup is already scheduled and not even the ugly weather could cool down the intensity that the battle will bring.

Tennis live betting has been on a high all week after some big name stars and online betting favourites failed to make the cut; and with Wozniacki and Stephens now vying for a spot in the finals, the online gambling bonanza is expected to continue.

Wozniacki has a great chance to advance given her status as the World No.6, but she can’t afford to let her guard down against the rising Stephens who surprised everyone with her run up to this stage.

Stephens’ Round-of-16 victory over Angelique Kerber might be credited to the latter’s struggles this 2017; however, her win over Lucie Safarova where she battled back after dropping the second set showed her grit and tenacity that no one can ignore.

The American only won one match in straight sets – against Kerber – but her ability to remain calm and composed while looking for various ways to win even if she’s not at her best makes her a huge threat for her Dutch opponent.

Wozniacki, of course, is the better player. Her 5-1 head-to-head record against Stephens proves she’s the superior player, and there’s no doubt that she can dominate again considering that four of her five wins came on the hard surface.

Not to mention that she’s currently at her peak after ousting Karolina Pliskova in straight sets, winning with her ferocious serves and brilliant return game.

All meetings between the two have been decided in straight sets, but I predict this one to be different given what is at stake. It should also be interesting as Stephens won their last match in Auckland in 2016.

It’s tempting to bet on Stephens here but—with questions on how much she has left in the tank—putting the money on Wozniacki Game Handicap -4.50 @ 1.89 appears to be the better move.
