BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore 2017

After a week of intense and action-packed live betting tennis, only two women remain in the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Top players and online betting favourites Simona Halep and Garbine Muguruza didn’t even make it past the group stage; and while the likes of Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Garcia did their best, they just don’t have enough to stop the soaring Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams.

Caroline Wozniacki vs Venus Williams

Betting odds favour Wozniacki to win this encounter, and for a good reason.

The 27-year-old Dane has been the best player in Singapore, and she’s serving the lights out all week en route to her finals appearance in the tournament.

Indeed, Wozniacki’s serve has been a revelation; however, it wasn’t the only skill she showed, proving in her semi-finals match against Pliskova that she can also defend and use her court coverage to get points.

Williams, of course, isn’t without a fighting chance. After all, she did beat two heavy hitters in Muguruza and Jelena Ostapenko before showing resiliency in stopping Garcia’s relentless groundstrokes.

The 37-year-old—who became the oldest finalist at the year-end tournament—also has the head-to-head advantage over Wozniacki. Williams is 7-0 against Caro, dropping only one set in those seven matches.

The last time these two met, though, was in 2015 and a lot has changed since then.

Wozniacki’s new-found aggression could change the game this time. Not to mention that the slow surface of the iconic Singapore Indoor Stadium is working to her advantage, allowing her to hit more powerful groundstrokes and track balls easier.

Williams, meanwhile, is making a habit of starting slow recently, and it could be a problem for her as the last thing she will want is to give Wozniacki the momentum to dictate the match.

The American’s ability to win on the big stage in her age also comes into question after failing to win it all twice, both in Australia and Wimbledon.

There’s no doubt Williams can keep this match close, especially that she’s playing smarter now. However, I think it will be hard to deny Wozniacki the title given her form. With that said, betting on Wozniacki Game Handicap -3.00 @ 1.89 seems the best choice.
