It’s time for the big batters to head to Brisbane

ODI: Australia vs Pakistan

Here we go cricket fans.

So many sports betting options with five One Day International matches all within the space of a fortnight.

From Brisbane to Adelaide, this should be compelling as the betting tips forecast the big names to shine.

Take Chris Lynn for example. His irresistible form makes him one of the hottest batsmen in the world right now.

With betting odds outright @ 5.00 for him to be the top batsman in the first test, it seems too good to be true not to take a punt.

He may be yet to score a century but that is surely only a matter of time given his form – he also scored a 52 and 57 against New Zealand in the one-day series whitewash last month.

That even shorter odds are placed on the destructive opener David Warner @ 3.70, Steven Smith @ 4.30 and the recalled Usman Khawaja @ 4.30 shows the formidable batting line-up at Travis Head’s disposal.

Watch out also for Adam Zampa and new call-up Billy Stanlake to make their mark, while odds on Glenn Mitchell, Head (both @ 8.00) and Mitchell Marshall @ 9.00 are also tempting as players need to impress with one eye on selection for the forthcoming tour of India.

Strength in depth may be crucial and history suggests the pressure is all on the tourists.

Indeed, Pakistan have only won twice down under in One Day matches with the Australians triumphing in 15 of their 19 ODI clashes.

No one with an affinity for Pakistani cricket will ever forget their victory in the 1992 World Cup in Australia, but their wait for a Test Series win on these shores goes on and, given they are currently only ranked as the eighth best One Day side in the world, they can ill afford to drop out of the top eight by the autumn.

If they do, they’ll miss out on automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup and the prospect of playing in a qualifying tournament in Bangladesh will not appeal.

They have suffered two blows with Mohammad Irfan and vice-captain Sarfraz Ahmed both ruled out (the former following the death of his mother), although Pakistan still have plenty of power and talent led by ace Azhar Ali – priced @ 4.50 to be their top batsman.

Shoaib Malik @ 5.50, Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan and Umar Akmal @ 6.00 also offer tempting odds.

While it’s unlikely Pakistan will pull off a major series victory against the top ranked one-day side, don’t expect an Aussie whitewash either – there’s too much at stake for that!
