T20I: Australia vs England
Australia or England, who is the better cricket team? The oldest rivalry in world sport rages on as the two great cricketing nations clash yet again.
It’s been one heck of a winter down under. Australia reclaimed the Ashes with a resounding 4-0 series win and the Three Lions roared back to give the hosts a 4-1 drubbing in the ODIs. Now it’s T20, and a great opportunity for online betting cricket fans to join the party again.
The Aussies are favourites to win in Hobart, as England enters the Tri Nation competition, at betting odds of 1.73, while the tourists are at 2.17. But as the home fans and sports press continue their favourite sport of Pommie bashing, they must fear their battle with the old enemy might leave a nasty taste.
England, at 4th in the world rankings, are three places above Australia and David Willey fired an explosive warning last week. The all-rounder smashed five sixes and a four in one over bowled by Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon, in a warm up match against the Prime Ministers XI. So a bet on England to hit the most sixes could be worth a shout; the Three Lions are at 2.20 while the hosts are at 1.90 and the draw at 6.00.
Australia’s biggest threat comes in the form of Glen Maxwell, the second best ranked all-rounder in the world. He hit an unbeaten 40 in the win over New Zealand in last week’s Tri Nations opener. Young pace bowlers Billy Stanlake and AJ Tye took seven wickets between them as Australia won well, and they’ll be after more.
Still, England, led by Eoin Morgan, have their tails up and love a fight so this will be one humdinger of a match. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
