England vs South Africa
The third ODI at the SSE Swalec Stadium in Cardiff promises an explosive climax to a great T20 series, and the gloves are off after two fantastic battles. The series is tied and there’s all to play for.
Betting odds reflect the current form of these two cricketing powerhouses, with betting websites installing England as marginal favourites. The hosts sit third in the T20 rankings with South Africa at sixth. AB de Villiers and his talented team haven’t been enjoying their cricket much of late but this series has been great to watch.
Early wickets cost South Africa in the first T20 as they toiled to a total of 142-3, thanks to a record fourth-wicket stand between AB de Villiers and Farhaan Behardien. But that was blown away by one of England’s heavy weapons, Jonny Bairstow, who hammered a 29-ball fifty.
Then, at Taunton, we had a firework display as South Africa smashed 174 only to see England’s Jason Roy and Bairstow, again, put them to the sword. There was some spice too as Roy was controversially given out ‘obstructing the field’ to raise boos from the passionate crowd before South Africa fought back to snatch the game by three runs.
This is an explosive English one day line-up; capable of dismantling any bowling attack, but South Africa proved that the Lions can, just occasionally, be tamed. The question is…can they do it again?
