After a largely exciting opening football games in the 2017 Confederations Cup, it’s time for the second round of matches.
The betting odds remain attractive on all sides with progress to the semi-finals not as easy to predict as many sports betting fans initially felt.
Germany vs Chile (June 23, 02:00 GMT+8)
Group B, however, does seem much more straightforward.
A quick-fire double either side of half-time ensured world champions Germany got off to a winning start against Australia.
Joachim Low may have named a mixture of youth and experience in his squad but there remains genuine talent.
They will find life a lot tougher against Chile though, whose talisman Alexis Sanchez is just one goal from becoming his country’s all-time leading goalscorer.
His tally of 37 is equal to that of Marcelo Salas and I expect him to soon to be out in front.
The winners in this one will be favourites to top the group and I think the South Americans will edge out the Germans.
That is why my 🌟🌟 tip is Asian Handicap -0.25 Chile @ 2.11.
Cameroon vs Australia (June 22, 23:00 GMT+8)
Respectfully, the other match in the group could be the one which determines who avoids bottom spot.
The African Cup of Nations holders meet the 2015 Asian Cup winners and there may well be plenty of goals in this one as both nations seek a victory which, after opening defeats, will keep alive their semi-final hopes.
My other 🌟🌟 offering is First Half over 1.00 goal @ 2.09.
Russia vs Portugal (June 21, 23:00 GMT+8)
Group A offers encounters of a different kind, though no less compelling.
Russia know victory against Portugal will seal their place in the last four of a tournament in which they are keen to impress, 12 months before hosting the World Cup.
The focus on Portugal, as ever, surrounds their captain.
Cristiano Ronaldo may be the best player on the planet but even he would, surely, prefer to be on a beach somewhere right now after his exertions for his club over the last nine months.
Still, when silverware is on offer, Ronaldo gets the bit between his teeth which is why I can’t see the European champions being defeated.
My 🌟 tip is 1X2 draw @ 3.25.
Mexico vs New Zealand (June 22, 02:00 GMT+8)
Mexico’s last-gasp equaliser against Portugal means the South Americans will be buoyant going into their clash with New Zealand, themselves having not won or scored since March.
My 🌟🌟🌟 bet is First Half Asian Handicap -1.00 Mexico @ 1.98.
