Netherlands 1-2 Italy
Italy grabbed a confident away win and heaped more misery on suffering Netherland fans who’s only fun was in cheering an own goal.
Betting odds suggested this would be a tight game, but in reality Italy never really looked threatened, apart from by their own defender. Last week we made a football prediction that the Italy goalkeeper wouldn’t be beaten and you could say we were right…at a stretch.
In a lively start there was plenty of interest for mobile betting fans as the visitors scored twice in two minutes, once in the right end; but the first goal on ten minutes gave the Dutch an unlikely lead as Alessio Romagnoli put through his own net.
The Netherlands need all the help they can get at the moment but Italy was unwilling to lift them too much, Eder firing low into the bottom corner from distance to level just a minute later.
The Dutch were unbowed though and Bruno Martins Indi thought he’d restored the lead when he met a Memphis Depay cross with his head, only to see the ball crash back off the bar. Then the Italians struck another cruel blow when Leonardo Bonucci made it 2-1, smashing home from a corner on 32 minutes.
Second half substitute Andrea Belotti came close for Italy and Tonny Vilhena did his best to inspire a comeback for the Netherlands.
But it wasn’t to be. Danny Blind has something to work going forward, but his Netherlands team really needs to be able to find the net itself.
