The little genius just seems to get better and better. Lionel Messi has started this season in a mood to dominate all before him, and that’s not good news for Getafe.
The Barca superstar has fired his team to the top of La Liga, with five goals in three football games, and now I’ll make a football prediction that he adds to that tally on Saturday.
WEEK 4 SATURDAY:
Eibar vs Leganes
Before all that, the action is served up by Eibar and Leganes where despite Leganes strong start, betting odds suggest a home win. 16th-placed Eibar are at 2.14 with Leganes at 3.40 and 3.25 the draw. But Eibar suffered a thumping in Seville last week and has scored a solitary goal so far.
Levante vs Valencia
Eighth plays ninth in a clash between two sides which have made solid starts. Valencia have drawn with both Madrid giants on the way to five points, and Levante are unbeaten on their return to the top flight with a win and two draws, Ivi top scoring with two. The hosts also won this fixture 1-0 in 2016.
Getafe vs Barcelona
Getafe sit in mid table after a good, if slightly lucky, win at Leganes but they have a mammoth task to keep Messi and co at bay. The Catalans hammered Espanyol, 5-0, before humbling Juventus in midweek, Messi scoring five in the two games. The only way to balance the odds is with a Handicap of -1.75 which puts Barca at 1.91 and Getafe at 2.02.
WEEK 4 SUNDAY:
Real Betis vs Deportivo La Coruna
Depor have a single point and will be desperate to avoid another relegation tussle and pin their hopes on striker Florin Andone, who has looked a bright spark so far. Sergio Leon is the biggest threat for Qique Setien’s team which will expect to win at home.
Atletico Madrid vs Malaga
Diego Simeone’s Atletico had a tough Champions league opener, drawing with Roma, but should have an easier ride this weekend. The hosts are on five points having drawn last week with Valencia while Malaga is pointless.
Alaves vs Villarreal
Alaves are rock bottom with three defeats so far and could be suffering from second season syndrome. Meanwhile, Carlos Bacca scored as Villarreal got off the mark with a win over Real Betis. But Alaves can take some heart as they won both games between these two last season.
Girona vs Sevilla
Girona are making a decent fist of life in the Primera Division with four points, putting them to 11th place and they will hope Sevilla haven’t yet recovered from their trip to Liverpool, having defended for much of a 2-2 draw. But the visitors have started well at home and are in third place on seven points.
WEEK 4 MONDAY:
Las Palmas vs Athletic Bilbao
Athletic Club too have seven points and take a trip to Gran Canaria in good form. Las Palmas were relieved to get off the mark last week with a win in Malaga. Former Chelsea striker Loic Remy was among the scorers and he could prove to be a smart acquisition.
Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
What a test this is for Los Blancos. And they already trail the league leaders by four points, one of which is Real Sociedad having made a perfect start. Asier Illarramendi has his scoring boots on so Madrid, beware. Zinedine Zidane’s men had a relatively relaxing midweek win over Apoel Nicosia.
WEEK 4 TUESDAY:
RCD Espanyol vs Celta Vigo
Quique Sanchez Flores apologised to Espanyol fans after the derby thrashing and his team are stuck on a single point and, though it’s early days, no-one wants to be teetering on the edge of the drop zone. Celta Vigo grabbed their first points of the season last week so will play with more freedom.
