Serie A: Lazio and AC Milan Set For a Big Monday Night Showdown

Lazio vs AC Milan

Watching the upcoming battle between Lazio and AC Milan is a perfect way to kick off next week if you’re a football fan.

These two topnotch Serie A clubs will go head-to-head once more, and both are hungry to gather more points as we’re winding down the 2020/21 season.

AC Milan are perched at second with 66 points and they’ll be hoping for a miracle in order to keep their flickering Scudetto hopes alive. They may be trailing by 10 points against Inter Milan, but who knows what can happen in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Lazio are at sixth place with 58 points. The Biancocelesti are in danger of missing out on a European qualification spot especially with Juventus, Napoli, and Atalanta on top of them. So they must return on the winning track in order to have a chance.

Whenever these two meet, fireworks and goals are to be expected and this will be no different. And here at SBOTOP, we look ahead at their matchup with this match preview.

Talking Points

Lazio hope to make a late run

Lazio cannot afford another setback if they plan to sneak into an European qualification spot.

Simone Inzaghi’s men suffered a beatdown against Napoli last week as they were blitzed by goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Matteo Politano during the first hour of action.

Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic tried to mount a rally starting from the 70th minute, but Victor Osimhen quashed their chances with another goal 10 minutes later.

Prior to the loss, Lazio were undefeated in their last five league matches.

A huge reason for their run is because of Ciro Immobile’s return to his lethal form, and Simone Inzaghi hopes that the 31-year-old centre forward sustains that in the next few weeks.

Immobile, who won last season’s Golden Boot and has 17 goals as of the moment, may have fallen off the Serie A top scorers chart this term. However, he is still capable of putting up numerous Serie A 2021 highlights on any given day.

Supporting Immobile as always will be the robust midfield duo of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto, while Joaquin Correa and Felipe Caicedo add another scoring threat alongside him.

AC Milan aim for second best

Despite their current place in the Serie A standings, AC Milan can’t afford to relax just yet.

Milan are holding on to their one point lead over Atalanta and Juventus, while they only lead by three points over Napoli.

Like Lazio, AC Milan are coming off of a loss against Sassuolo last week as Giacomo Raspadori came out of nowhere to offset Hakan Calhanoglu’s 30th-minute goal.

Stefano Pioli’s men are definitely missing Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s leadership and box-office draw. He is still recovering from his injuries, although he just signed a new extension with the club recently.

With the big Swede still out, there’s extra responsibility on the shoulders of Hakan Calhanoglu and Franck Kessie at the center of the pitch. Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao are in line to start as well.

History

The Rossoneri are coming in confident knowing that they have the upper hand in their overall head-to-heads against the Biancocelesti.

In their last 55 matches, AC Milan have won 25 games, while Lazio have only gathered 10 wins along with 20 draws.

When AC Milan hosted Lazio just before Christmas in the reverse fixture, they bested them in a five-goal thriller.

Stefano Pioli’s side had the ideal start as Ante Rebic and Hakan Calhanoglu took a 2-0 lead in just under 20 minutes. However, Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile equalised during the hour mark.

Theo Hernandez eventually bailed out the Rossoneri during stoppage time to pull out the win.

Betting Tip

??
Lazio vs AC Milan Lazio Asian Handicap 0.00 @ 1.72
April 27, 02:45 (GMT+8)

This match spells “thriller” all over it as neither team are heavily favoured by the updated Serie A 2021 odds.

Lazio have the slight edge at 2.27 to win, while AC Milan are priced at 2.93 and chances for a draw are at 3.45 in the 1X2 market.

With both teams fresh from a loss last week, expect this one to be a cagey affair that can go either way.

A draw is always in the cards when these two meet. However, I will take my chances on betting for Lazio to come out with a victory simply because they have a more complete lineup.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
