Serie A: Golden Opportunity Awaits AC Milan

AC Milan vs Bologna

Serie A pacesetters AC Milan will kick off April with a great chance to break away from the chasing pack as they’ll enter the easier part of their schedule.

AC Milan will host Bologna at San Siro in a game that they couldn’t afford to waste. With 66 points as of this writing, the Rossoneri only have at least a three-point lead over everyone and the likes of Napoli and Inter Milan are both in hot pursuit.

Bologna, on the other hand, are currently at 12th place with 33 points so Stefano Pioli’s men are looking to exploit their poor form with their run of negative Serie A 2022 results lately.

When these two faced off few months ago, AC Milan pummeled Bologna and the pre-match SBOTOP betting odds predict that we’ll have a similar result on Monday evening.

Can I Rossoblu put up a fight against I Rossoneri? Or will it just be a matter of time to where we’ll crown a new Scudetto winner?

Talking Points

AC Milan can’t be complacent

AC Milan are in a rich vein of form as they’re undefeated in their last 10 games in all competitions and they can win their first Scudetto in 11 years if things go according to plan.

Despite having three games in the next 11 days, I Rossoneri’s next three league opponents are from the bottom half of the table and it’s likely that they’ll get maximum points from each of those matches.

So far, they’ve been grinding out the wins against Napoli, Empoli, and Cagliari before the international break and they’ll look to pick up where they left off on Monday. Stefano Pioli and co. may not publicly admit it, but they’re aware that a couple of 1-0 wins aren’t convincing enough for their title tilt.

It’s their leaders who have been carrying the load all season and they’ll need them again for one last push starting this weekend.

Rafael Leao is their top scorer with nine goals and four assists and he’ll lead the line up front alongside Olivier Giroud or Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who have eight goals apiece.

The Rossoneri will more or less keep the same starting XI for this contest, although Stefano Pioli might opt to rotate his squad given their congested schedule.

Bologna in a slump

Bologna are on a poor run of results and it doesn’t help they’ll be without their head coach for the time being, although that should serve as a motivation for them to play much better moving forward.

Sinisa Mihaljovic just announced that his cancer has returned, which means that he’ll be focusing on recovering rather than coaching his boys on the pitch.

Like AC Milan, Bologna have leaders to lean on too starting from their top scorer Marko Arnautovic, who is their top scorer with nine goals.

Musa Barrow and Riccardo Orsolini will join him up front, while Aaron Hickey and Emanuel Vignato form an intriguing young midfield duo.

History

AC Milan have been dominant against Bologna recently as they’ve won 11 of their last 12 Serie A meetings (D1). And in the most recent six, they’ve scored at two goals (18 goals total).

At home, I Rossoneri have won each of their last five league matches against I Rossoblu. Their last loss at San Siro dates back to 2016 where Bologna won with a tally of 1-0.

Their reverse fixture last October ended in a 4-2 score in favour of AC Milan where Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored at both ends of the pitch. The big Swede scored an own goal for Bologna at the 49th-minute, but he scored the final goal before added time.

Rafael Leao, Davide Calabria, and Ismael Bennacer all scored too for AC Milan while Musa Barrow was the only scorer for Bologna – who were reduced to nine men as Adama Soumaoro and Roberto Soriano were sent off.

Betting Tip

AC Milan are the huge favourites to win in this contest, as per the Serie A 2022 odds. They are installed at 1.37 to win, while Bologna are the underdogs at 8.25 and chances for a draw are at 4.60 in the 1X2 market.

If you’ll take into consideration what happened in the last time out, Over 2.50 @ 1.78 appears to be a good alternative bet especially since both sides can pour in goals at any time.

Opportunities like this don’t come too often for AC Milan, so we expect them to go all out in these next few weeks and their quality should shine against their weaker opponents like Bologna.
