As the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League progresses, we slowly see which teams are poised for glory and which teams will be clawing their way to survive.
Al-Ettifaq, Al-Nassr, and Al-Halil are primed and ready to set themselves apart from the middle of the league table as they try to continue their winning ways this weekend.
Al-Ahli vs Al-Ettifaq
Two of the league’s top six teams will have a chance to set themselves apart in a crowded Saudi League Pro League table.
Al-Ahli just came back from a loss to Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr. It was an action-packed match that tallied seven total goals. This shows that Al-Ahli’s attacking prowess can hold its own compared to other elite offences in the league.
It was a team effort for Al-Ahli to stay competitive against Al-Nassr. They unleashed a flurry of shots, which created numerous opportunities for the team to score. Midfielder Riyad Mahrez and forwards Franck Kessié and Feras Al-Brikan carried the offencive load for Matthias Jaissle by scoring a goal each.
But even though they fought valiantly, they still failed to secure the win. Ronaldo and Talisca were simply too much for Al-Ahli to handle, as they scored two goals each en route to a 4-3 victory for Al-Nassr.
Matthias Jaissle and his squad aim to bounce back in their matchday 8 matchup at home against Al-Ettifaq, another formidable league rival.
Jordan Henderson’s Al-Ettifaq have been clicking on all cylinders as they win their third straight game, which boosted them to the fourth spot in the Saudi Pro League table. They did so in spectacular fashion by scoring 10 goals in said run.
When it rains, it pours, as Al-Ettifaq’s offence may get more deadly as the former Red Devil and West Ham star Jesse Lingard has agreed to a one-month training deal with the club. This could be a great opportunity for both Al-Ettifaq and Jesse Lingard.
The former England forward is on a quest to find a new home where he can be serviceable and make a considerable impact, while Al-Ettifaq can bolster its already intimidating offence with Lingard’s crafty and aggressive style of play.

Al-Ta’ee vs Al-Nassr
Al-Ta’ee will try to defend their home turf against a visiting Al-Nassr team, who just came off an emphatic win against Al-Ahli last week.
Kresimir Rezic and his team have been struggling, having won just one out of their last five Saudi League Pro matches. They’ve conceded twice as many goals as they’ve scored, which is never a good thing if you’re trying to climb a very competitive league table.
Al-Nassr, on the other hand, have been the best team in the league for the last five matchdays. They scored a whopping 21 goals in just five matches, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring nine of those goals.
Luis Castro and the rest of his team most recently visited Ohod for a King Cup Champions bout. Castro opted for his ace player, Christiano Ronaldo, as the 39-year-old Portuguese legend is starting to show signs of fatigue. But even though Al-Nassr was without their five-time Ballon d’Or teammate, they still got the job done, demolishing and thrashing Ohod with a 5-1 victory.
They are set to face Al-Ta’ee for their next Saudi Pro League outing. It’s no surprise that the SBOTOP Saudi Pro League 2023 betting odds have Al-Nassr at 1.19 as heavy favourites to win. This fixture is expected to be a showcase of Al-Nassr’s dominance and will surely be full of Saudi League 2023 highlights.

Al-Hilal vs Al-shabab
Al-Hilal’s blockbuster signing Neymar Jr. headlines the Saudi Pro League 2023 news once again as reports state that the 31-year-old forward does not plan to stay at Al-Hilal for long, and according to Brazilian journalist Ademir Quintino, Neymar will return to his roots in 2025.
“During conversations with friends of Neymar Senior and Neymar Junior, I received the information that they did not sign a four-year contract with the Saudis but rather a two-year contract so he can return (to Santos) a year before the World Cup. Neymar approached Santos and asked to return. I have friends in common with Neymar, whom I will not name, but he has a very strong desire to return to Santos.” Quintino stated.
Neymar has yet to make significant contributions to Al-Halil, given that he dealt with an ankle injury that forced him to be sidelined for six months. He had just played three games for Al-Halil and has yet to score his first goal in the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Hilal are currently sitting comfortably in the second spot on the Saudi Pro League table. They are matched up with a rising Al-Shabab squad.
Al-Shabab have won their last two Saudi Pro League games and recently won their King Cup of Champions match against Al Batin. They have been ramping it up this month and prove to be a worthy foe for Neymar and Al-Hilal.
