West Ham United would certainly want to improve their overall record against Chelsea in their head-to-heads.
In their 42 games together prior to this weekend, Chelsea have had West Ham’s number since they’ve won 24 times while the other 18 games are split evenly to nine draws and nine losses.
These two sides previously met in April where Chelsea eked out a 1-0 win, courtesy of Timo Werner’s goal right before the half-time break. To make matters worse, West Ham were reduced to 10 men when Fabian Balbuena was sent off late.
That defeat was a big blow to West Ham’s Champions League aspirations at the time, and eventually they finished the 2020/21 season at sixth place while Chelsea sealed the final top four spot.
