Premier League: Spurs and Everton Aim for Fast Finish

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton

Premier League: Spurs vs Everton doesn’t sound like a mid-table clash but that’s exactly what it is, as these two proud clubs battle it out in the race to win a Europa League spot.

Spurs are in ninth place at the moment with Everton two places back in 11th, though both could slip even further down the table depending on how other results go on Sunday.

The Toffees have a little more momentum of the two; Spurs have won just one of their last six games while Everton arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with back-to-back victories. The Spurs vs Everton betting odds slightly favour the Whites due to home advantage but this game could easily go either way.

Talking Points

Two legendary coaches come head to head

Both Spurs and Everton would hope to be higher in the table, especially with coaches of the gravitas of Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti in the dugouts.

These are two of the most decorated head coaches in European football and have both won the Premier League as manager of Chelsea. Of the two Mourinho is under more pressure, managing a team which has recently expected to finish in the top four and were Champions League finalists in 2019.

A year ago Tottenham were third in the table on 64 points and they currently sit ninth with 45 points.

Mourinho is used to better. He came to prominence as a manager when he took un-fancied Porto all the way in the 2004 Champions League, beating Monaco 3-0 in the final. That win earned him a move to Chelsea where he won three Premier League titles. He coached Inter Milan to the Champions League and Serie A titles and then led Real Madrid to a La Liga win in 2012.

Ancelotti’s managerial career is just as impressive. He won two league titles and two Champions Leagues as head coach at Milan, a League and FA Cup double with Chelsea in 2010, and then he won the Bundesliga as manager of FC Bayern. He is one of only three managers to win the Champions League three times, also picking up Europe’s top prize at Real Madrid.

There’s little doubt who was the better player. Carlo Ancelotti won a Serie A title and four Coppa Italias in a stint at Roma before playing for the outstanding AC Milan team in the 1980s, while Jose had a brief and unremarkable career in the lower reaches of the Portuguese football league.

It’ll be interesting to see which of the two tactical experts comes out on top on Monday, but there’s another fascinating comparison for SBOBET fans to look at when Spurs host Everton.

Kane vs Calvert-Lewin

On the pitch there will be a striker spearheading each team aiming to outdo the opposite number nine. They have very different profiles in terms of world football but Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have pretty similar records this season.

Harry Kane has scored against all 29 of the Premier League teams he has faced
Harry Kane has scored the only goal for Spurs against Sheffield United

The Spurs skipper has 13 goals at a rate of one every 158 minutes and he’s made two assists, while Everton’s striker has bagged 13, at one goal every 168 minutes and he has made one assist. Calvert-Lewin has the slightly better shooting accuracy with 55 per cent of his shots on target to Kane’s 53 per cent.

Both are likely to feature heavily in the Spurs vs Everton highlights on Monday night, but each has good support. Everton’s Brazilian striker Richarlison has scored 11 goals while Heung-Min Son has nine goals for Spurs and the South Korean has nine assists.

Kane was on the mark in Spurs’ 2-0 win against West Ham while Calvert-Lewin is yet to hit the target since the resumption.

Richarlison scored in Everton’s victory over Leicester City though, and the Toffees have a dangerous partnership up front.

History

The head to heads in the Premier League era tell the story of two well-matched clubs, playing out 21 draws. But when the result has gone one way or the other the Londoners have often taken the spoils, winning three times as many as their opponents at 25 to eight.

They played out a 1-1 draw in November at Everton when Cenk Tosun scored a last-minute equaliser after Dele Alli had given Spurs the lead on the hour, while in the corresponding fixture last season Everton left London with a 2-2 draw.

Spurs are unbeaten in 11 encounters at home to Everton, but will an empty stadium make the difference?

Betting Tip

??
Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Everton Asian Handicap + 0.50 @ 1.80
July 7, 03:00 (GMT+8)

I think it might. Spurs are at 2.08 with the draw at 3.15 and the Toffees at 3.35.

1-1 is the most likely score-line at odds of 5.80 and that looks likely to me. Of the two sides, Everton have settled back into their game more quickly and I think they will have the better of this match.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
