Manchester United have struggled to get a settled midfield trio this season, particularly with the absence of injured World Cup winner Paul Pogba. Scott McTominay has done his level best to dominate the middle of the park for the Red Devils, but that’s been a big responsibility to take on such young shoulders, and he was sidelined against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Solskjaer has had to rely on Andrea Pereira and Fred to play alongside the experienced Juan Mata, but neither has impressed and all too often look lightweight.

They were completely over-run by a well organised Sheffield side and were deservedly 2-0 down. But Brandon Williams’ first Manchester United goal sparked a spectacular comeback from the Red Devils as they scored three in seven minutes, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford scoring to make it 2-3. But they couldn’t hang on for the win and had to settle for one point.
Rashford is the top scorer with seven goals and he’ll need to be at his best if United are to pick up any points in the next two games. The Red Devils have another huge match to follow this one, with the Manchester Derby on the menu next weekend.
Three from three for Jose’s Spurs
Mourinho has made his presence felt pretty quickly at Spurs. He’s a born winner and one of the most decorated managers in the game, and he’s made a pretty special start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And any Spurs fans who expected him to shore up the defence and try to squeeze the life out of opponents will be changing their minds. Their team has scored ten goals in the three wins since he took over.
Spurs flew into three goals leads against both West Ham and Bournemouth and ended up winning each game 3-2, conceding very late in both. They went 0-2 down to Olympiacos in the Champions League before roaring back to win 4-2. The most striking feature has been the return to form of Dele Alli, who has seemed lost for almost 12 months, but followed up a goal against the Greek side with a double against the Cherries.
There’s no doubt Mourinho can make a side hard to beat, and with the flair he has at his disposal at Spurs it could be an exciting second half of the season in North London.

The head to head Manchester United vs Spurs results are firmly in United’s favour, having won 39 of the 58 games played between these two teams in the Premier League era, with Spurs triumphing nine times and there have been ten draws.
But that won’t even register with Solskjaer as his task at Old Trafford is all about the present and the future. And he’ll want to avoid a repeat of the last meeting in Manchester; Lucas Moura scored twice and Harry Kane was on target as Spurs won 0-3 here last season to heap the pressure on Jose Mourinho as Manchester United boss.
Spurs are unbeaten in six, while United haven’t lost in their last eight home matches, which is why this is such a tight game to call.

The draw at 3.05 could well be the outcome at Old Trafford, but I think Spurs have a slight edge. Jose Mourinho knows how to win big games, and he, for once in his life, has a big point to prove.
For an alternative bet, 2-3 goals at 1.96 is in line with my thoughts, I think we’ll see a 1-1 or a 1-2.
