La Liga 2024: The Unrivaled Season of Los Blancos

countdown banner

To say that Real Madrid dominated the 2024 La Liga season would be a gross understatement. The campaign in the Spanish top flight is still ongoing, but the men in white have already comfortably clinched the league title, with little to no convincing threat to boot.

Real have further cemented their status as the best club in Spain with their 36th Spanish league title after beating Cadiz 3-0 at Santiago Bernabeu last Saturday.

The football world saw the streets of Madrid covered in confetti, Madridistas roaring with glee, celebrating what was a cinematic season displayed by Carlo Ancelotti and his group of extraordinary men.

With another silverware added to their ever-growing trophy cabinet, Real Madrid stay hungry as they pivot their efforts on extending their dominance past Spain and into the annals of European football. But before Los Blancos embark on their Champions League final, let’s delve into Real Madrid’s dominant run to the La Liga 2024 title, courtesy of SBOTOP.

Since time immemorial, the Spanish league has been dominated by two clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Before every season starts, football fans already anticipate either the Madridistas or the Catalans to be tussling at the top of the league standings; even the La Liga 2024 betting odds suggest either club lifting the trophy once the season is done and dusted.

Barcelona, however, went through one of their toughest seasons as of late. Barca’s injuries, coupled with the Xavi telenovela, set the Catalans back, forcing them to finish the season without a single trophy added to their collection.

On the other hand, Los Blancos’ La Liga 2024 results were simply unrivaled. Boasting the most potent offence and the most formidable defence in the entire league, Ancelotti’s well-oiled machine was able to clinch the title with four games remaining in the season.

It’s hard to nitpick a single Real Madrid player and say that he’s the spearhead of the club’s triumphs, as the entire roster had a stellar campaign, contributing their specific skillset to the overall success of the outfit. But one can’t undermine the efforts Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior displayed this season.

While Courtois serves as the last bastion of defence for Los Blancos, it’s Bellingham and Vinicius who get the job done on the other side of the pitch. The budding duo pose as Real’s top two goal scorers and top two assist men for Ancelotti this season.

Bellingham boasts 22 goals in the season thus far, while Vinicius Junior trails right behind with 18 goals to his name. The young Brazilian also leads his team in assists with nine, while Bellingham is tied with Toni Kroos for claimed assists with eight.

Speaking of Kroos, the German midfielder is one of the three captains of Real Madrid this season, sharing the responsibilities with Nacho and Modric—three seasoned vets and three club legends in the flesh. These accomplished leaders were the heart and soul of Los Blancos, guiding the club’s diverse group and comfortably giving the limelight to their budding youngsters. They’re definitely the unsung heroes of Real Madrid’s title run.

“This league title wasn’t easy, but we showed incredible unity and character,” Modric said during their victory parade at the headquarters of the Comunidad de Madrid, the City Hall, and the Plaza de Cibeles. “It’s amazing. We have come here many times, but every time we come here, it gives us enormous joy. I want to thank those who have come, support us, and give us these moments. This league title wasn’t easy because we had problems, but we showed incredible unity and character.”

Of course, we have to give Carlo Ancelotti his flowers as well. The way Ancelotti is managing Real Madrid this season has been nothing short of a masterclass. The Italian head coach suffered just one loss in the top flight this season, against their neighbouring rivals, Atletico Madrid, but aside from that, his outfit has been spotless.

As the avid fans already know, having talented players doesn’t automatically secure a title; a team needs to be well coached, supported, and mentored to a tee, and Ancelotti did just that. The Madrid boss orchestrated and designed a well-oiled machine that scored more goals and conceded fewer than any other side in the top flight.

“The manager’s management has been very important. After a complicated start to the league due to injuries, he knew how to manage all the players very well, and it’s a success of the entire squad. Now the best, the most important, is ahead of us,” Los Blancos forward Joselu exclaimed.

Ancelotti was seen celebrating with his team during their victory parade, with a cigar in his hand, dancing, and his players celebrating his brilliance. Truly one of the greatest managers of all time. Hats off to you, Don Carlo. Hala Madrid!
