It sure is an exciting live betting weekend for fans of the Bundesliga.
Gladbach and Bayern Munich certainly did not disappoint in their respective Derby Day matchups as they both thrilled online betting and displayed memorable performances to highlight Matchday 28.
Not to mention that we were also treated to some pulsating games and late winners that undoubtedly added more drama as the German season nears its end.
Eintracht Frankfurt 2-2 Werder Bremen
Down by two after the first half, the spirited Frankfurt outfit staged a huge second-half comeback to share the spoils at the Commerzbank-Arena. Goals by Zlatko Junuzovic and Fin Bartels put the River Islanders up at the break, but Frankfurt immediately pulled one back after the restart through Mijat Gacinovic before Marco Fabian levelled matters with a neat finish on 73 minutes.
Schalke 04 4-1 Wolfsburg
The Royal Blues pulled away with a two-goal lead within 23 minutes, and the Wolves never had a chance to cast some of their comeback magic. Guido Burgstaller was sensational for Schalke as he netted in both intervals, his second a brilliant display of skill that saw him control a cross before striking home. Mario Gomez though scored a late consolation for Wolfsburg.
Koln 2-3 Borussia Monchengladbach
It’s a five-goal thriller in the Rhine Derby, but Gladbach had the last laugh thanks to Captain Lars Stindl who launched the winner ten minutes before the end of regulation time. Koln levelled matters twice through Christian Clemens and Anthony Modeste – a fitting display for the occasion; however, they weren’t able to answer back Stindl’s 80th-minute screamer as the visitors held firm for the win.
With this victory, Gladbach still have a chance for Europa League qualification, but they need to get all the points in their next game against Hoffenheim where they are underdogs on 1X2 odds at 3.30.
Hamburger SV 2-1 Hoffenheim
Hamburg pulled off the biggest upset of Matchday 28, taking down third-placed Hoffenheim who just recently beat the German champions. The hosts—undefeated in eight home games entering the match—are in the front seat for the most part, and their efforts paid off as Aaron Hunt capped the game with an excellent brace.
Next up for Hamburg is the Nordderby, and if they can keep up this form, they could be solid bets on Asian Handicap +0.25 @ 1.98.
Freiburg 1-0 Mainz 05
Nils Petersen stepped on the field in the 69th minute and scored for his team on 70 with a beautiful close-range touch. Indeed, Petersen turned into super-sub for Freiburg as he converted from six yards through a deflected ball to put the hosts up. It was also a moment of sheer jubilation for the home fans as both teams struggled to find opportunities to score.
RB Leipzig 1-0 Bayer Leverkusen
Leipzig had the initiative throughout, and although late, they still managed to steal a win against Bayer deep into injury time. Emil Forsberg threatened Bayer’s defensive line right from the first half, and though he failed to find the back of the net, he proved to be a thorn in the visitors’ side as he teed up substitute Yussuf Poulsen for the last-gasp winner.
Bayern Munich 4-1 Borussia Dortmund
The match was over after only ten minutes with Bayern jumping into a two-goal lead. Franck Ribery paced the German Champions with an incredible 18-yard volley on four minutes before Robert Lewandowski made it two with a free-kick. BVB pulled one back through Raphael Guerreiro, but the Bavarians were just too much for them as Arjen Robben and Lewandowski piled more second-half misery on their Der Klassiker rivals.
Hertha BSC 2-0 Augsburg
Augsburg are now in real danger of relegation after succumbing to the Berliners at Olympiastadion. Indeed, for a team seeking European qualification, Hertha showed no mercy to Augsburg as they pummeled them with two first-half goals, courtesy of John Anthony Brooks and Valentin Stocker, who also had a hand on their first goal.
Ingolstadt 3-2 Darmstadt 98
Ingolstadt’s hopes of making it out of danger got a boost after repulsing Darmstadt to secure their third straight win. It wasn’t easy though as Mario Vrancic netted twice to cancel Pascal Gross’ 19th-minute opener and put Darmstadt up by one at the break; however, Almog Cohen sparked Ingolstadt’s turnaround with his seventh of the season before Markus Suttner gave the hosts the lead through a direct free kick.
