A first half blitz by Everton saw West Brom off at Goodison Park and took the Toffees to within two points of Manchester United in sixth place.
You know what you get with Everton, but there was some live betting chaos at Bournemouth where the Cherries missed two penalties but still won, and it was a good day for Hull City in the third of today’s Premier league football games.
Everton 3-0 West Bromwich Albion
Two goals at the end of the first half stamped the Toffees’ authority all over this one as Kevin Mirallas and Morgan Schneiderlin both benefited from good work by top scorer Romelu Lukaku. Then on 82 minutes Lukaku headed a third to take Everton seven points clear of the eighth placed Baggies.
Bournemouth 3-2 West Ham United
Josh King scored a hat-trick and missed a penalty; one of two spot kick misses by the home side but the Cherries still took the points. Michail Antonio had put the Hammers ahead on ten minutes but King atoned for his own penalty miss with a lovely piece of skill to score on 31 minutes, and then took advantage of a sluggish West Ham defence to make it 2-1 early in the second half. Andre Ayew levelled before King’s late winner.
Hull City 2-1 Swansea City
Oumar Niasse grabbed two second half goals to win a crucial three points in a game full of endeavour but rather lacking in quality. Alfie Mawson scored an injury time consolation for the Swans but that means Hull have beaten Swansea three times this season and move to within a point of safety.
