Real Madrid’s first defeat of the season has cut their lead to a solitary point at the top of La Liga and it’s game on!
Still the strong favourites with betting websites, Los Blancos have a great chance to get back to winning ways on Saturday. But there are 20 exciting rounds of football games to come in the Primera Division and plenty more twists and turns.
WEEK 19 SATURDAY:
Las Palmas vs Deportivo La Coruna
The fun starts in the Canaries again where tenth-placed Las Palmas welcome improving Deportivo side which have lost only once in the last five. Las Palmas suffered a bruising 5-0 reversal to Barcelona last week and Depor won this fixture
last season. The visitors are at 3.50 to triumph again, with a draw at 3.35 and a Las Palmas win the most likely outcome at 2.05.
Espanyol vs Granada
Mid-table Espanyol will be keen to shake off that defeat to Valencia and face another struggling side. Granada were held to a draw by bottom club Osasuna last week and are, themselves, still six points from safety.
Real Madrid vs Malaga
Los Blancos can get back in the saddle quickly against 13th-placed Malaga, a team short on confidence and on a run of three consecutive defeats, certainly a different proposition to Sevilla! Zinedine Zidane’s stars should begin another unbeaten run and are at 1.95 to win with a -2.50 handicap.
WEEK 19 SUNDAY:
Alaves vs Leganes
Leganes are five points above the drop zone and survival would be a great feat for the Madrid minnows. They’ve drawn four in the last five and face a strong mid-table Alaves which have won only once over that period. So is another point on the cards?
Villarreal vs Valencia
Sixth-placed Villarreal have drawn the last three in all competitions but they, too, will expect to get back on the winning trail when they entertain Valencia. The visitors are breathing a little easier after winning last week against Espanyol and may be there for the taking.
Osasuna vs Sevilla
Stevan Jovetic’s late winner to see of Los Blancos has given Jorge Sampaoli’s men the belief they can go on and win the title. With four wins on the bounce they are as sure a bet as anything this weekend to come up with another win at basement club Osasuna.
Athletico Bilbao vs Atletico Madrid
Three wins on the run have lifted Diego Simeone’s Atletico to fourth, and they travel to Bilbao for a tough match against Athletic Club, themselves sitting just outside the European places. The visitors won this fixture 1-0 last season.
WEEK 19 MONDAY:
Real Betis vs Sporting Gijon
While 14th-placed Real Betis have lost three of the last four in all competitions, Sporting can beat that, losing five on the run. The Gijon boys are in deep trouble and would welcome a repeat of the draw they achieved in last season’s corresponding fixture.
Eibar vs Barcelona
Lionel Messi has said he’ll stay at the Camp Nou as long as he is wanted and that’s good news for the Barca faithful as, along with Luis Suarez, the little genius has bagged 14 goals already this season. Maybe he’ll confirm his commitment with another at mid-table Eibar.
Real Sociedad vs Celta Vigo
Fifth plays eighth in a fascinating tussle where Sociedad need a win to keep their European ambitions nicely on track. But Celta Vigo have won five matches on the run in all competitions and won’t fear a visit to the Anoeta Stadium where they were victorious last season.
