Chelsea 3-1 Arsenal

Chelsea delivered a near knock-out blow to Arsenal’s hopes and shortened betting odds on the league title returning to the Bridge in a resounding 3-1 win.

It was a touch of real class from the amazing Eden Hazard which took this game away from Arsenal in the 53rd minute, after Marco Alonso had put Chelsea ahead.

A couple of late goals, one for either side made for good live betting fun but the result was rarely in doubt.

Football betting fans and pundits alike know just how big this result was for both teams.

Arsenal started brightly but had the wind taken from their sails on 13 minutes when a break from Chelsea released Pedro down the right and his inch perfect cross was headed by Diego Costa onto the crossbar. Marco Alonso was first to react heading home to send the Chelsea fans wild and taking a bit of Gunners’ defender Hector Bellerin with him.

To make matters worse for Arsenal, Bellerin couldn’t continue and was replaced by Gabriel.

As the half continued at high tempo Chelsea looked dangerous whenever they attacked, particularly on the break. But Arsenal had their chances; Gabriel should have scored with a free header but gave keeper Thibaut Courtois too much chance, and Mesut Ozil forced another save in first half injury time.

Then came the moment of the game, the genius of Eden Hazard was there for all to see as he burst into the Arsenal half, pursued by Francis Coquelin who was determined to foul the Belgian but was shrugged off, and then Hazard brilliantly sidestepped the defence before lifting the ball over Petr Cech and into the net. Sensational!

The Gunners still didn’t give up and Theo Walcott came close on 57 minutes, before Courtois stretched to make a brilliant save from Olivier Giroud.

Then, with five minutes remaining Petr Cech had a nightmare, passing the ball out to a grateful Cesc Fabregas who dinked the ball over the hapless keeper to make it three. Olivier Giroud nodded home Arsenal’s consolation at the death.

Chelsea has taken another giant step to glory.
