The Germans are known for their eye for a bargain but also a level of astuteness that only few footballing nations possess.
They also know quality when they see it and that is why, after another transfer window in which Bundesliga players came and went, the league will remain as eminently watchable as most across Europe.
It will also show that, for all the movers and shakers, one deal has rendered the SBOTOP Bundesliga betting odds virtually redundant as far as the title race is concerned.
That is because the champions of Germany have secured as good a striker as there is anywhere in the world game and I feel certain he will fire them to a 12th successive title.
With the Bavarian spotlight all on Harry, Bayern Munich are by far the biggest winners in the transfer window.
Yes, they have said farewell to some key men, most surprisingly to me, Benjamin Pavard – a crowd favourite and, more tellingly, a serial winner with Bayern and a world champion with France.
Joao Cancelo has also not returned after being on loan during the second half of last season from Manchester City, while a Dutchman with much promise, Ryan Gravenberch, has been sold – albeit for double the fee they bought him for from Ajax 12 months earlier.
Yet why they should be too troubled given their rivals appear weaker than last term.
Never mind that RB Leipzig were comprehensive winners over Bayern in the German Super Cup a few weeks ago.
They have, amongst others, lost Konrad Laimer to Bayern, Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City.
And, after getting so close, do not think Borussia Dortmund are ready to go one better because they are not.
As I have mentioned on these pages before, the devastating way in which they missed out on the Bundesliga title last season will be one they take a few years to fully recover from.
Even after losing Jude Bellingham and Raphaël Guerreiro, they have recruited smartly enough with Marcel Sabitzer bringing poise and experience to the middle of the park and, in recent days, the signing of German international striker Niclas Füllkrug, on a three-year deal from Werder Bremen, lifting spirits.
The 30 year-old was the Bundesliga’s joint-top scorer in 2022/23 with 16 goals, alongside Nkunku, and boasts an impressive scoring rate for Germany with seven goals in nine senior international caps.
Respectfully, though, Bayern remain well out in front and I expect the Bavarian’s Bundesliga highlights to be efficient and relentless and the title race over far earlier than last season.
If they are the true winners in the transfer market, a few other deals have caught the eye.
The Bundesliga will miss Randal Kolo Muani and, more pertinently, so will Eintracht Frankfurt.
He had a direct hand in 26 goals last season and their loss is Paris St Germain’s gain.
Bayer Leverkusen have recruited well and could push Leipzig and Dortmund close in the race for the top four, while if Naby Keita can rediscover the form from his first Bundesliga tenure, Werder Bremen may well have a free transfer bargain.
For me, though, the deal of deadline day came in the German capital where Union Berlin completed the signing of Italy captain Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus.
Widely considered to be one of the finest central defenders of his generation, Bonucci has signed a one year deal through to the end of the campaign, when the 36 year-old will retire from playing.
He brings a wealth of experience to the table for a Union team preparing to compete in the Champions League for the first time in their history, following last season’s superb fourth-placed Bundesliga finish, where they will meet Real Madrid, Napoli and Braga.
Berlin may struggle to match that achievement but, in Bonucci, have someone who should be determined to go out on a high.
As well as a repeat of their duel in the Euro 2020 Final, it will be interesting to see him and Kane face-off again.
Always changing, always enthralling, the Bundesliga is truly up and running but the ultimate outcome will be no different.
