Since their entry in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich – without a shadow of a doubt – have been the most successful club in the history of German football.

In his prime, virtually no one can stop the Dutch international from scoring goals. Known as a born winner, Robben had stints with Chelsea and Real Madrid before heading over to the Allianz Arena where his career would change forever.

Franck Ribery
A big part of Bayern Munich’s success for the better part of the decade is also because of Franck Ribery as he and Arjen Robben would form a successful attacking partnership.
After an up-and-down career that would see him jumping around clubs in France and Turkey, the French winger would finally find his home in Die Roten back in 2007.
Ribery enjoyed an illustrious career playing for the Bavarian juggernauts as he would record nine Bundesliga titles and six DFB Pokals.
Like Robben, Ribery is as creative as it gets thanks to his craftiness and high IQ on the pitch. He was once complimented by Zinedine Zidane as the jewel of French football.
In an era where Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were in their primes, it was remarkable that Franck Ribery won the distinctions of being the French and German player of the year in 2008 and UEFA’s Best Player in the Europe award back in 2013.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge may be known now as the chairman of Bayern Munich, but younger fans need to know that he’s had a great playing career for the team too.
In his 10 years playing for Die Roten, Rummenigge scored 162 goals in 310 appearances. At one point, he was the Bundesliga’s top-scorer in three occasions and even won the German Footballer of the Year award in 1980 as well as the European Footballer of the Year in 1981.
Kalle was one-half of the famous Breitnigge duo during the 80’s where he and Paul Breitner went on to win the Bundesliga title in 1980 and 1981, along with DFB Pokals in 1982 and 1984.
Known as a complete and versatile forward, Rummenigge was quick, decisive, and a consummate team player during his prime.
Paul Breitner
Bayern Munich’s success in the early 80’s would not happen if it weren’t for the leadership of Paul Breitner, who is one-half of the famous Breitnigge. He and Rummenigge would form a lethal duo that would wreak havoc against their opponents.
While Rummenigge was more attack-oriented, Breitner was more of an enforcer in the middle to support the backline.
With his strength and power, Breitner was a nightmare to deal with for opposing playmakers. Individually, he has earned for himself a German Footballer of the Year citation in 1981.
His spell with Bayern Munich was the best stretch of his career as he would win seven league titles along with a Champions Cup and a German Cup.
Gerd Muller
Known as Der Bomber, Gerd Muller was way ahead of his time. After all, Muller was the greatest marksman of his era, scoring a whopping total of 365 goals in just 427 Bundesliga matches.
He would be responsible, along with Sapp Maier and Franz Beckenbauer, in ushering a new era for the Bavarians in the early 60’s. When he joined the club in 1964, Muller would help catapult Bayern from the Regionalliga Sud to top-flight status for good.
Muller won the German Championship and DFB Pokal four times, along with three European Champions’ Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, and one European Winners’ Cup.
He is the league’s all-time leading scorer and he holds the single-season record for most goals in a season with 40 – a record that is still untouchable to this day.
