Bundesliga: The Charging Foals are Set to Collide with the Big Yellow Wall

countdown banner

Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund

Two of the most exciting sides in the Bundesliga today are set to square off anew at the BayArena as Bayer Leverkusen host their visitors in Borussia Dortmund this weekend.

The Foals and BVB have done decent in the first three matchdays of the 2021/22 season with two wins apiece. And as the international break takes a backseat, both clubs are eager to pick up where they left off.

This game promises a ton of Bundesliga 2021 highlights as Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund boast two of the best offences in the league with nine goals each and their top hitmen are showing no signs of slowing down.

From the likes of Moussa Diaby, Patrik Schick, Florian Wirtz, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Gio Reyna – this fixture is going to be action-packed given that there’s no shortage of firepower here.

The SBOTOP betting odds point to a close affair and we expect nothing less from this explosive showdown.

Talking Points

Bayer Leverkusen are in full throttle

Gerardo Seoane has clearly made an impact on his new team since he has turned Bayer Leverkusen into a goalscoring machine.

With nine goals in their first three Bundesliga (W2, D1) matches, Die Werkself have risen to the top three of the Bundesliga standings and they are poised to get a few more wins this September since they have a relatively easy schedule.

The Foals didn’t skip a beat despite the departure of Leon Bailey, who was one of their most important players in recent years. With the speedy winger moving on to the Premier League, it opened an opportunity for the others to step in and shine.

Moussa Diaby is arguably the best player in the league after the first three rounds with two goals and one assist, while Patrik Schick is carrying on where he left off at Euro 2020 with two goals of his own.

The midfield partnership of Charles Aranguiz and Exequiel Palacios has also been the key so far, although both are expected to be unavailable due to the timing of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.

That leaves a heavy burden for Florian Wirtz, who continues to show steady progress. He has been receiving heavy praise from his colleagues including German national team manager Hansi Flick, calling him a “total package” at just 18 years old.

Defense is a concern for Borussia Dortmund

Like Die Werkself, BVB too have young guns who are ready to fire. Erling Haaland’s penchant of scoring in bunches is nothing new at this point, while Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham have been superb as well.

However, they must tighten up on the defencive end against the their red-hot hosts. Especially with Mats Hummels injured recently, Dortmund look disorganised and unsettled on the backline.

The German centre-back is apparently dealing with a patellar tendon issue for these past couple of months, which explains why he didn’t look as mobile as he would like to be.

The good news is that Hummels was seen back in training after pulling out of international duty. This time, however, they may be a bit vulnerable on the wings and at the midfield with Thomas Meunier and Axel Witsel doubtful due to fitness concerns.

History

Bayer Leverkusen supporters may be feeling confident about this upcoming fixture since their team has been great at home versus Borussia Dortmund in recent occasions.

After winning just once in the last 12 previously, Die Werkself have won their last two Bundesliga home matches against BVB – although they’ve never won three straight against them at the BayArena since 2002.

On the flip side, Borussia Dortmund have won nine of their last 10 Bundesliga games. Their only defeat in that span was against SC Freiburg last August and they could lose their first two away games for the first time since 1993/94.

BVB’s last meeting against the Foals ended in a 3-1 triumph last March as Erling Haaland’s brace and Marco Reus’ 51st-minute goal cancelled out Lars Bender’s late penalty kick.

Betting Tip

??
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund Bayer Leverkusen Asian Handicap -0.00 @ 2.40
September 11, 21:30 (GMT+8)

As mentioned, we expect this to be a tight affair and the Bundesliga 2021 odds agree.

Borussia Dortmund are the slightly favoured side at 2.23, while Bayer Leverkusen are priced at 3.00 to win and a draw is at 3.45 in the 1X2 market.

While the visitors are favoured to win this match, we feel that Bayer Leverkusen will take this one via a slim margin since they’re in better form and they’ve been formidable at home.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
