Bundesliga: Bayern Munich Gunning For Table Supremacy

countdown banner

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayern Munich are planning to make a statement as they host Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend at the Allianz Arena.

The defending champions in the Bundesliga will have to juggle their Champions League and domestic campaigns as they try to aim for another historic treble – an achievement they’ve completed just a few months ago.

For a while, Hansi Flick’s men were looking like mere mortals after they struggled to put away Hertha BSC and losing to Hoffenheim. But now, they are in much better shape after gathering a couple of positive Bundesliga 2020 results.

Next on their list is a streaky team in Eintracht Frankfurt – who have been running hot in form as they have yet to lose a Bundesliga fixture so far this term.

Die Adler are currently fourth in the table with eight points, which is quite surprising for a team that has finished ninth last season.

Can they keep it up with a positive result against the Bavarian giants? Or will Bayern Munich stop them on their tracks?

Let’s take a look of today’s match preview courtesy of SBOTOP.

Talking Points

Bayern Munich facing a tight schedule

The Bavarian giants depth will be tested especially in the next few weeks, which means that lineup changes are bound to happen one way or another.

While their attack continues to be great with Robert Lewandowski leading the way, Hansi Flick recognises that their defence need a little more work to get into their top form.

After taking the football world by storm last season, it appears that Alphonso Davies has come back to earth after a string of okay performances according to team manager Hansi Flick.

“Alphonso’s form dropped a bit, but he gets all our support. It’s important he gets back on track,” said Flick in a recent interview.

“It’s a bit normal to see a young player go through such a spell following an incredible season. We will support and help him,” he added.

Perhaps this is a way of Hansi Flick trying to manage the expectations surrounding his young star. Regardless, it’s a good thing for them that they have multiple options on that end.

David Alaba, Niklas Sule, Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Hernandez, and Manuel Neuer continue to form a rock solid backline that should make life hard for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Winger Serge Gnabry is expected miss time since he tested positive for the coronavirus, which leaves the door open for the likes of Leroy Sane and Douglas Costa to step up in his shoes.

Eintracht Frankfurt punching above their weight

Die Adler have been quite a surprising package early on this term as they are yet to be defeated in the Bundesliga.

Granted that they have yet to face a club like Bayern Munich, going unblemished in the first four matchdays is quite an achievement in itself.

Andre Silva is back to his talismanic form for Eintracht Frankfurt. After leading the team in scoring with 16 goals last season, the young Portuguese striker has punched in three along with an assist.

Supporting him is Bas Dost who is one of their reliable forwards as he has added two goals and two assists. The 31-year-old was the second-leading scorer for the team with eight last season.

Eintracht Frankfurt will be entering the harder part of their schedule to where they’ll face three championship contenders in the next five matchdays.

History

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it’s easy to see as to why Bayern Munich are heavily favoured in our betting odds.

In their 39 matches against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Bavarian giants have won 29 while Die Adler won in five along with five draws.

Goals can come in bunches as recent history would suggest as they’ve notched 22 goals combined in their last four encounters.

Betting Tip

??
Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt 1X2 Bayern Munich @ 1.27
October 24, 21:30 (GMT+8)

There is a huge disparity between the Bundesliga 2020 odds for these two clubs, and I am favouring the defending champions to win in this one.

Eintracht Frankfurt are priced low at 9.50 to win, while a draw is at 6.00 and Bayern Munich are pegged at 1.26 in the 1X2 market.

In the Asian Handicap readings, Bayern Munich are in a good spot for -2.00 @ 2.06 while Total Goal 2-3 @ 1.75 is a plausible wager as well.

Ebbs and flows are normal in the course of a long, grueling season. And from time to time, even the Kings of Europe will go through that too.

Even with a busy schedule, Bayern’s overall depth and quality should prove to be the difference against Eintracht Frankfurt, although the visitors have the capability to give them all they can handle.
