Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen
Bayern Munich have control over their own destiny. They currently hold a one-point lead over Dortmund at the top of the table, and if they win each of their last five games, they will win their seventh straight Bundesliga title.
Their final run-in might be a bit more difficult than Dortmund’s, but their upcoming fixture might be as close to a guaranteed three points as it gets.
That’s because they welcome Werder Bremen, a team they have dominated for over a decade now, to the Allianz Arena.
While Bremen have been among the most in-form teams in the Bundesliga since the New Year, they will face an uphill battle against a Bayern side that’s been banging in the goals of late.
Talking Points
Bayern simply dominant at home
Bayern Munich have been in imperious form of late. They picked up yet another dominant 4-1 win last time out away to Fortuna Dusseldorf to maintain their one-point lead atop the table.
Kingsley Coman scored two of the four goals as he looked to get back into the club’s good graces after getting into a fight with Robert Lewandowski days before the match.
Bayern have now won 15 of their last 17 Bundesliga matches, with one draw and one loss. They’ve been scoring goals for fun as well, banging home four or more goals in five of their last six contests.
Their home form has been especially dominant. They’ve won their last eight matches at the Allianz Arena, with their last three — against Wolfsburg, Mainz, and Dortmund in Der Klassiker — coming by a combined score of 17-0.
Robert Lewandowski was surprisingly not part of the goals against Dusseldorf, but he’s been in incredible form of late. He’s scored nine goals in his last seven games, including five in his last three at home. Meanwhile, James Rodriguez has chipped in with four goals of his own.
Werder Bremen’s unbeaten run
While Bayern have been simply incredible of late, even they can’t lay claim to Werder Bremen’s impressive feat. Since the start of 2019, Bremen are the only Bundesliga club that has yet to suffer defeat.
Bremen’s Bundesliga 2019 results have consisted of six wins and six draws in 12 matches. Four of those six wins have come in their last five games, including a 2-1 home win over Freiburg in their most recent outing.
Veteran striker Max Kruse and midfielder Davy Klaassen have been the main driving forces behind their recent success. Kruse has six goals and five assists in his last eight appearances, while Klaassen has scored in each of the last three matches.
However, Bremen have not been quite as impressive away from home. They’ve drawn four of their last five outside the Weserstadion. They also lost in their visits to second-placed Dortmund and third-placed Leipzig.
It will truly be a test of Bremen’s defensive resolve to prevent Bayern from continuing their free-scoring ways at the Allianz Arena.
History
The Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen betting odds are significantly tilted toward Bayern, and the recent history between the two might have something to do about it.
Bayern have won a stunning 16 consecutive Bundesliga matches against Bremen, including the last seven in a row at home.
And if you think it can’t get any worse for Werder Bremen, it can. Bayern have scored 4-6 goals in each of those last seven home games against Bremen.
Moreover, Bayern are unbeaten in their last 20 meetings (17 wins, 3 draws), with Bremen’s last win coming all the way back in 2008.
Bayern won their first meeting at Werder Bremen this season, 2-1, with Serge Gnabry scoring both goals.
Betting Tip
Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen | Bayern Munich Asian Handicap -2.50 @ 2.14 | |
April 20 21:30 (GMT+8) |
Clearly, just about all the signs point to another comfortable Bayern win. Their unbelievable record against Bremen — particularly at home — is too remarkable to ignore. And the fact that they’ve been simply irresistible of late at the Allianz only strengthens their chances of producing another massive victory.
While Bremen have been quite impressive this year, it’s hard to see them putting up much of a fight against a Bayern side which has the title in its sights. Bremen’s winning run is likely coming to an end, but Bayern’s utterly dominant home win streak looks set to extend by another game.
I strongly suggest using the SBOBET Asian handicap sports betting market, where Bayern -2.50 is priced at 2.14. Over 4.00 goals, which is priced at 2.11, is also an intriguing bet considering Bayern’s recent goalscoring exploits and Bremen’s in-form attackers.
