Europa League Quarter-Final
Last week’s Europa League winners already have one foot in the semi-finals, but that doesn’t mean the second-leg football games will be less thrilling.
Online gambling heavyweights Atletico Madrid and Arsenal know for a fact that a huge reversal isn’t out of the question. The same goes for Lazio and RB Leipzig, who are more likely to lose their tickets to the final four given their current lead.
Indeed, anything can still happen and fans shouldn’t write off an upset or two in this week’s Europa spectacle.
Sporting Lisbon vs (0-2 on agg.) Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid are in fine form, going undefeated in their last three including a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in their recent derby. Antoine Griezmann also remains the ultimate offensive threat, with the Frenchman finding the back of the net in four of their last five games in all competitions.
Sporting Lisbon, however, won’t go down without a fight. Not at Estadio Jose Alvalade where they have only lost once all season long—a 0-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League group stage last September. They went on a 20-game unbeaten streak at home since then while averaging 2.35 goals.
Atletico are still the favourites to move on to the next round, but Sporting can certainly manage a draw this time which pays at 3.40.
Red Bull Salzburg vs (2-4 on agg.) Lazio
Lazio scored four at home, but they also conceded two in the process which could well favour Salzburg when they host the Italian side.
Salzburg need to score two and hold Lazio scoreless to win this tie and move on to the semis. While that seems a difficult task, it’s noteworthy to say that Salzburg are unbeaten in eight straight competitive home matches. In fact, they have scored 23 goals in that span!
Real Sociedad and Dortmund both failed to solve Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena, and I don’t think Lazio can do it even with Ciro Immobile. With that said, betting on Salzburg 1X2 @ 2.23 is the best way to go.
CSKA Moscow vs (1-4 on agg.) Arsenal
Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are fighting for respectability and their lost glory, so it’s no wonder why they were on fire in the first leg.
The Gunners are now on a six-game winning streak in all competitions, with Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey combining for a total of 10 goals during that stretch.
The fact that Arsenal only have three clean sheets in their last ten outings will give CSKA Moscow some hope, but that is the only positive the Russian side can take as their lack of competitive matches put them at a great disadvantage. Go for Arsenal Asian Handicap -0.50 @ 2.01.
Marseille vs (0-1 on agg.) RB Leipzig
Marseille will be hungry for victory. After holding Leipzig to just one goal the last time out, the French side will now look to turn the tide and send the German club packing.
Sure enough, beating Leipzig remains a tall order. The Bulls have Timo Werner, Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg who are hard to stop when they have the momentum. Nonetheless, Marseille will still like their chances considering their solid defence.
Not to mention that Marseille haven’t lost a Europa match at Stade Velodrome this campaign, all while keeping four clean sheets and allowing just four goals! Considering these factors, Marseille -0.25 @ 2.01 isn’t a bad bet to make.
