The Raptors have lost eight of their last 10 games as they slip to fifth in the NBA standings. Now, they will look to turn around the betting odds and sway betting tips in their favour when they visit a fellow struggling team.
Nonetheless, with leading scorer DeMar DeRozan likely out, do they have enough depth to return to winning ways?
Let’s find out!
Toronto Raptors @ Brooklyn Nets (February 6, 01:00 GMT+8)
Losing twice to a really, really bad offensive team like Orlando is not a good sign for Toronto. Their recent slump calls for them to have a reliable defensive anchor, and they need to add one before the trade deadline.
Although this hole in their defence shouldn’t pose much of a problem against the slumping Nets, they should still be wary of the opponents’ tendency to get hot from three.
I predict this one to be closer than expected, though Kyle Lowry should be able to punish a Brooklyn side missing a high-quality playmaker.
LA Clippers @ Boston Celtics (February 6, 03:00 GMT+8)
The Clips are still looking for some flow on their offence in the absence of star point guard Chris Paul. Blake Griffin’s return gave some life to their stagnant attack, but they still need a capable and consistent floor general to run the offence.
However, that is an issue they cannot immediately address ahead of this game, so they are likely to fall against the soaring Boston team that have won six in a row now behind Isaiah Thomas’ All-Star calibre performances and huge fourth-quarter explosions.
With that said, Boston -5.50 for 2.03 should be a good bet.
Portland Trail Blazers @ Oklahoma City Thunder (February 6, 04:00 GMT+8)
This encounter has the potential to be a thriller, especially with the meeting of Portland’s Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum and Oklahoma’s Russell Westbrook and Victor Oladipo – two of the NBA’s most competitive backcourt duo.
Nevertheless, with Portland finding success in their new lineup that features Evan Turner on the offence, the Blazers appear to have more advantage. Though, they will also need to avoid the defensive lapses they showed in their loss to the Mavericks the last time out.
I think this will be a tight match, but Portland +4.50 for 1.92 is a punt worth considering.
