The West is still the top dog in the exciting NBA

countdown banner

The NBA’s Eastern Conference is slowly shaping up to be as competitive as the West with the emergence of teams like Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston and Toronto. These teams have begun getting some serious love from mobile betting enthusiasts and various betting websites.

The betting odds did become closer due to the strong performances of the Eastern teams, but the games we just witnessed proved that the West is still the conference to beat.

Philadelphia 76ers 105-95 Brooklyn Nets

Joel Embiid had a strong showing in this Sixers win, clocking in 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks in 57.1% shooting. Dario Saric, the other Philly rookie, also hurt the Nets from the three-point arc. Brook Lopez could only do so much on his own to stop the young Sixers.

Washington Wizards 107-101 Milwaukee Bucks

The battle for a playoff position continues as the Wizards barely managed to keep the Bucks out by a mere five points. Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris led the offensive charge against a Milwaukee squad without premier player Giannis Antetokounmpo. The level of play the Bucks showed in Giannis’ absence should be good news for head coach Jason Kidd.

Miami Heat 86-98 Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers are still without Blake Griffin, but Chris Paul’s return to regular season play was more than enough for Los Angeles to whip the Miami Heat out of Staples Center. Miami had a terrible shooting night, only converting 37% of their shot attempts.

Houston Rockets 129-122 Toronto Raptors

Many were anxious to see this game for a good reason: both teams are tearing up their respective conferences with high-quality offences. This match did not disappoint expectations of a high-scoring game. James Harden and DeMar DeRozan were shining examples of prolific shooting, but Houston had the slightly better defence tonight.

Utah Jazz 79-88 Memphis Grizzlies

Mike Conley and the Grizzlies kept the winning form they picked up at Golden State when they faced Gordon Hayward and Utah. Conley, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol were the only Grizzlies to score in double digits, but their team’s defensive efficiency was more than enough to shut down the entire Utah team.

Cleveland Cavaliers 120-116 Phoenix Suns

This surprising score is not Cleveland’s fault; the Cavaliers actually had a strong shooting night from all over the floor. Phoenix’s starting lineup was just that good offensively. The backcourt duo of Devin Booker and Eric Bledsoe hurt the Cavs’ defence the most.

Detroit Pistons 125-124 Portland Trail Blazers

The Moda Center crowd had their hearts broken when the visiting Detroit Pistons won the game against the Portland Blazers by a hair’s breadth in double overtime. Damian Lillard had a quiet night as CJ McCollum took over the game for the Blazers. They could have actually won the game if not for a Kentavious Caldwell-Pope catch-and-shoot at the three late in the second overtime.

Golden State Warriors 117-106 Sacramento Kings

This game is a tale of two halves: Sacramento led by as much as 16 during the first half, only to see the Dubs snatch the lead and run with it by regulation. However, the Warriors do need to heed Draymond Green’s words and check their offence in the fourth quarter. The Kings almost outscored Golden State in the fourth quarter 27-26.

Orlando Magic 95-111 Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers do have a losing record, but the young guns show really bright flashes every now and then. Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram had great shooting nights to drive the Lakers past the struggling Orlando Magic. Moreover, Russell could have had a triple-double if he was allowed by Luke Walton to clock in more minutes.
