The Western Conference has always been a wild, wild place for an NBA team to exist.
The West has always been known as the breeding ground of the best teams in professional basketball. Many of the teams that have emerged from this specific conference have transformed the league into the entertaining, high-scoring spectacle that SBOBET fans have come to know and love.
The number of impressive teams that called the Western Conference their home is too many to mention. The various Los Angeles Laker teams of the past were long-time standard holders of the Western Conference. The Steve Nash-era Phoenix Suns were a joy to watch. The Houston Rockets had two great centers don their jerseys.
Today’s NBA also has its share of fascinating Western squads, and they will be in full display when they play. Five Western Conference teams that have been playing great basketball will be showing fans why the West is still the conference to beat in professional basketball.
Boston Celtics @ Miami Heat (January 11, 07:00 GMT+8)
But before we get to the real stars of today’s game day, three is one Eastern Conference duel that is poised to become either an entertaining clash of styles or a one-sided rout in favour of the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics are overwhelming favourites to win this game. Not only do they have an established superstar in Kyrie Irving, but they also have one of the deepest rosters in the league with players that get bestowed with very eclectic nicknames.
However, it is important to remember that they will be coming into this game fresh from a tough fixture against the Indiana Pacers. Moreover, Josh Richardson, Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside will cause problems for the C’s if they don’t take care of business.
Of course, that won’t likely happen. With players such as Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Jaylen Brown ready to play at Brad Stevens’ command, this Boston team is probably its strongest yet.
LA Clippers @ Denver Nuggets (January 11, 09:00 GMT+8)
You would know that neither the LA Clippers nor the Denver Nuggets were favoured to make it high on the playoff table if you took a peek at the pre-season NBA 2019 betting odds. The Nuggets still had some developing to do while the Clippers were right smack in the middle of their rebuild after blowing the Lob City team up last year.
However, the Clippers keep on standing toe-to-toe with the league’s finest as they are led by Tobias Harris and Danilo Gallinari. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are thriving on the back of triple-double machine Nikola Jokic. They have won one each so far this season, and a win for either team would give them the advantage on their regular season series.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ San Antonio Spurs (January 11, 09:30 GMT+8)
The Oklahoma City Thunder have two of the most electrifying players on the court whenever they play, but their allergy to making three-point shots have definitely cost them games like their narrow loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Their 32% clip from long range has been the franchise’s lowest ever since they moved the franchise to Sooner State.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have hit their stride by winning eight of their last ten games. Among the teams they took down were the Clippers, the Nuggets and the Raptors that starred former star, Kawhi Leonard.
The Spurs will try to better their NBA 2019 results with another win against a competitor for playoff positions, but both Paul George and Russell Westbrook will definitely try to make life difficult for DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Detroit Pistons @ Sacramento Kings (January 11, 10:00 GMT+8)
Blake Griffin‘s game has thrived in Motor City ever since being traded by the Clippers last year. He is currently enjoying career-highs in points, field goal shots, and long-range shot attempts. He has done well in leading Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson through some rough patches.
However, Detroit’s hosts are going to be tough competitors in the Sacramento Kings. Players such as Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic have thrived in scoring for the Kings, and De’Aaron Fox managed to make this historically bad team into an entertaining ball club to watch. Their tough battle against the Golden State Warriors is a testament to how good the Kings are playing this season.
It will be interesting to see how the Pistons will be playing against one of the fastest teams to play against in the Eastern Conference. They can always abuse the Willie Cauley-Stein down low to get into position, but I won’t be surprised if Fox and friends manage to capitalise on your team’s weaknesses.
