NBA: Luka and LeBron Duel Anew in Texas

countdown banner

Fresh from winning the inaugural NBA in-season tournament, LeBron James and the Lakers are back in regular season action as they will visit Luka Doncic and the Mavericks in Dallas, Texas.

Other than the much-anticipated Lakers-Mavs game, SBOTOP basketball fans can indulge themselves in four more matchups between the Cavaliers-Celtics, Nuggets-Bulls, Warriors-Suns, and the Kings-Clippers.

Check out the latest of what the Association has to offer in tomorrow’s five-game slate.

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Boston Celtics

The Celtics will host the Cavaliers in back-to-back games starting tomorrow, and the NBA 2023 odds like their chances to win both games because they’ve been undefeated so far at home this season (10-0).

Boston have won four of their last five games, including a 133-123 win against New York last time out. In the said home game, Derrick White led all scorers with 30 points, but the bigger news is the return of Kristaps Porzingis, who was out for four games due to a calf injury.

On the other hand, the Cavaliers lost to the Magic 104-94 on Monday, ending their three-game winning streak.

Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell combined for 58 points, but they were missing the meaningful production of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.

Allen only had four points and seven rebounds in 15 minutes against Orlando. Mobley (knee), meanwhile, missed his second consecutive game, and we won’t be surprised if he’s out again.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are currently on a three-game winning streak, but they will have a hard time extending their run because momentum is on the Lakers’ side.

LeBron James became the first IST MVP, but it was Anthony Davis who stole the show in the Cup final, dominating the Pacers with 41 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks.

And it doesn’t help that the Mavericks might be missing Kyrie Irving’s services for the second straight contest, as he’s nursing a heel injury. On the other hand, Tim Hardaway Jr. was also absent in their last game due to back spasms.

Should the two of them remain sidelined tomorrow, then Luka Doncic will be tasked with shouldering the heavy load for Dallas, which he did successfully against the Grizzlies, recording 35 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, two blocks, and going 12-for-13 from the free throw line en route to a 120-113 victory.

Denver Nuggets @ Chicago Bulls

After three consecutive losses, the Nuggets are back to winning ways, and they are looking to claw their way back to the top of the Western Conference by creating a new winning streak.

Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic were back at it again by defeating the Hawks, 129-122, as the former led the way with 29 points, nine rebounds, and four three-pointers, while the latter had a full line of 25 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks on 69-per cent shooting from the field.

As for the Bulls, they have won four straight matches before losing to the Bucks by a score of 133-129. DeMar DeRozan and Coby White combined for 74 points in the losing effort.

With Zach LaVine (foot) out for at least a month, DeRozan and White will need more productive outings like this as they look to avoid further falling down in the Eastern Conference standings.

Golden State Warriors @ Phoenix Suns

After a prolonged injury layoff, Bradley Beal is reportedly set to make his return to NBA action

The Suns are hoping to have all of their Big 3 available in tomorrow’s marquee showdown against the Warriors.

Bradley Beal (back) is said to be available for tomorrow, which is a huge boost for the Suns, although he is expected to be on a minutes restriction following a long injury layoff.

Devin Booker will also play, but there’s a huge question mark on Kevin Durant’s status since he is dealing with an ankle injury.

The Warriors, meanwhile, have had a mixed bag of NBA 2023 results this month. And they will continue to ride the coattails of Steph Curry, who has scored at least 30 points in two straight matches.

Sacramento Kings @ LA Clippers

The Clippers’ improved chemistry has been evident because they now own the league’s longest streak (W4). Since the start of December, LA have won four of their last five.

The winning run can be attributed to the resurgence of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden. Leonard had a season-high 41 points against the Jazz on Saturday, while George and Harden have averaged 22.5 and 18.3 points per game, respectively.

Sacramento are also on a winning run of their own. They just beat the Nets on Monday by a score of 131-118, in which they set the new franchise record for three-pointers (25).
