With the NBA setting a timetable for a possible return, it’s only a matter of time to which basketball fans will get to see their favourite stars back into action.
Several players were able to return to their respective practice facilities this week, as the league office gave the teams a go-signal to reopen them in order to prepare for the long grind ahead.
The league office has considered three possible centralised destinations to where the season can resume – namely in Las Vegas, Orlando, and Houston.
Although the actual return date is yet to be determined, these players can’t wait to play once more.
For now, SBOBET offers you a preview of today’s NBA updates.
John Wall looking good in rehab
Like the Brooklyn Nets duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, John Wall missed a lot of time since tearing his Achilles last season and he is more than eager to prove his worth as soon as he returns.
The University of Kentucky alum has somewhat become a forgotten man in the league especially since his massive contract with the Wizards is still ongoing.
Wall signed a four-year, $170-M extension with Washington a few years ago. And since he has yet to return on the court, a lot of experts now see his contract as a huge albatross for the Wizards’ rebuilding plans.
The Wizards, however, were able to resign his backcourt partner Bradley Beal to a max extension of his own and they selected Japanese international Rui Hachimura during last year’s draft.
Although the Wizards are expected to miss the postseason yet again as per our NBA 2020 odds, John Wall believes that the Wizards will come back with a vengeance next campaign.
“When I’m not playing, I’m watching these guys play. Like these young guys, they killing our team and they looking at our bench and stuff. Just know I got those written down in my notes for when I come back when they start next season,” said John Wall in the All The Smoke podcast.
“I’m gonna be better than what I was before, and that’s the scary part. Damn near the whole five years I was an All-Star I played with two bone spurs in my knee and my heel. People don’t know that. They ain’t even get the best of John Wall yet, they just got a clip of him,” he added.
It’s going to be fascinating on how the Wizards will look once they get back their star backcourt together again. John Wall and Bradley Beal are more than capable of producing topnotch NBA 2020 highlights and they’ve got a promising young core.
“Ain’t no John Wall without Bradley Beal. Ain’t no Bradley Beal without John Wall. We make each other better. We accommodate each other so well on the court and it works easy for us,” said John Wall.
Should the league adopt a four-point line?
Trae Young is one of the brightest young stars in the NBA because of his creative playmaking, ball-handling, and unlimited shooting range.
During a half-hour interview with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski the other day, the Atlanta Hawks standout unequivocally supported the possibility of the NBA adding a four-point line.
“It would help me. And then if I get fouled on the four-point line it’s an and-one, so we’re gonna get five points per possession. I’m down to get a four-point line,” said Young.
Because of his smaller size compared to his counterparts, the Atlanta Hawks guard had to work on expanding his range out to 35 feet which is near the halfcourt line. He shared that he started working on his deep range ever since he was a kid.
“I think when you’re a kid, when you get the ball for the first time and you get in the gym, the first thing people want to do is shoot threes. I really focused on my mechanics, starting out close, getting the touch and rhythm good. And then as I got older and stronger, my range started moving farther back,” bared Young.
NBA players have been shooting deeper three-pointers than ever before. Guys like Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, James Harden, and Trae Young are some of the best in that regard.
Last season, Trae Young leads the quartet in shooting percentage for long threes. At a time, he went 20-for-51 near the logo which is good for 39-per cent.
Regardless on whether the league will adopt this proposition, Young will continue to focus on making the Hawks a perennial playoff contender.
“I’m trying my best to build the city of Atlanta and our team to a championship-level team. I want to win championships in Atlanta,” mentioned Young.
