International Friendly:  Expectations are High for Football’s Best

Fans will get a breather from club football as your favourite players from your favourite teams go and represent their respective countries in the upcoming international break.

The football world will gear up for another round of International Friendly bouts, and that just means that the biggest names in the sport will come out and do their best to bring glory to their nations. So, read more below, as SBOTOP features some of the most notable names to look out for this coming international break.

Jude Bellingham, England

England will be under the microscope this coming international break, as they’ll test their credentials against two football juggernauts in Brazil and Belgium. Leading Bundesliga goal scorer and England skipper, Harry Kane, will lead the way for the Three Lions, but all eyes will be on their budding star, Jude Bellingham.

The Real Madrid star boasts 20 goals and nine assists this season across all competitions. Being a newcomer to the England squad, Bellingham will prove that he can tussle with the world’s best and that he belongs.

The Three Lions will first bang with Vinicius Jr.’s Brazil and then try to fend off Kevin De Bruyne and the rest of Belgium at Wembley Stadium.

Florian Wirtz, Germany

Wirtz has been one of the main catalysts for Bayer Leverkusen’s success in Germany. The young stud already has 10 goals and 17 assists to his name this season, carrying his load and more for Xabi Alonso and the title favourites, Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old has already proven that he is one of the best creators in the top five leagues, and he’ll have a great opportunity to showcase his brilliance in orchestrating for his compatriots in their upcoming friendly against Kylian Mbappe and France.

Luckily for Wirtz, he will be joining a stacked Germany squad, and with Julian Nagelsmann at the helm, it’s fair to expect a handful of International Friendly 2024 highlights from the Euro 2024 hosts.

Kylian Mbappé, France

France have undisputedly been the best European team over the past six years, and their success is primarily because of the brilliance of their young captain, Kylian Mbappe.

The French skipper’s form has been unworldly since his meteoric rise, and he has shown no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Last season, the 25-year-old managed to tally 41 goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.

Mbappe is once again leading Paris Saint-Germaine to another Ligue 1 title, thanks to a 24-goal production in the top flight alone, while tallying a total of 38 goals for club and country in 37 appearances.

There’s no reason not to expect the World Cup runner-ups not to be the SBOTOP International Friendly 2024 betting odds when they face up against Germany in their upcoming tie at Groupama Stadium.

Erling Haaland, Norway

The 2022–23 Premier League and Champions League’s top goal scorer, Erling Haaland, has already cemented his status as one of the best and purest footballers in the world. But the majority of his success has come from his time at Manchester City, his domestic club.

Haaland has yet to make significant contributions with Norway at an international level, but luckily for him, he’ll have a chance to make significant strides when they face off against the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the next couple of days.

This will be a good opportunity for Haaland to step away from Pep’s guidance and prove that his success as a footballer is not entirely dependent on Guardiola’s system and the rest of his teammates at Manchester City.

Expect Haaland and Norway captain Martin Ødegaard to spearhead and funnel in the offence for Ståle Solbakken.

Vinicius Jr., Brazil

Brazil have slowly slipped down the FIFA power ranking over the past few years. The proud, football-crazed country was at the top of the list in 2022, but they slowly dipped down and are currently in the fifth spot.

It’s still not a bad place to be, if you ask this SBOTOP writer, but I doubt the players and people of Brazil will be content with anything less than football supremacy. Brazil are hurting, but their time will come again.

Luckily for them, they have a talented squad that can bring them back to football glory, and the most intriguing one of all is Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

Vini Jr. has shaped up to be one of the best young talents in the football world. Despite having to share the field with one of the most stacked sides in La Liga, the 23-year-old still manages to contribute on a consistent basis, single-handedly carrying Los Blancos to victory at times.

One can’t forget how the relentless Brazilian scored a hat trick against Barcelona to clinch the Super Copa in January.

Expect more of the same from Vini Jr. as he tries to replicate his form with his domestic league and the bright lights of the international stage.

Brazil will have a hefty slate this coming international break, as they’ll lock horns with England in Wembley, then clash with Spain in Madrid.
